SIMON DE MARCHI - Shark Jaw Technician

For more than 30 years, I have been studying and preparing shark specimens for collectors.

I am a member of the Oceania Chondrichthyan Society, based in Australia, which facilitates the education, conservation and scientific research of Chondrichthyan fishes, a group that covers sharks, skates, rays and chimaeras.

Currently I am a forensic investigator with the GSAF (Global Shark Attack File), assisting with the study of bite marks when a shark attack occurs world-wide.

I am also a member of the Shark Research Committee, based in the US, as well as the AMCS – The Australian Marine Conservation Society.

Process

Cleaning

Cleaning a specimen is a delicate process which requires precision and skill. The entire process is time consuming and once completed, we can also mount the jaw or skeleton to a custom cut perspex board or wooden block with steel arm support. DISCOVER MORE
