“It’s about the relationship... that’s what made us go with Con-form Group”. - Sam Forbes at Inscape Thank you to the Team at Inscape Projects Group for kindly donating their time to be a part of this video. We are dedicated to building long-lasting relationships with our clients and are thrilled with the outcome of this project. As for this project, here’s a little bit about it... Con-form Group were engaged in a project based in Regional NSW to retrofit three Span+ (rafter-mounted), platforms onto the roof of a mixed-use development. Of the challenges the Builder had with the roof of this project, Mr Forbes said, “we had issues with structural integrity of the roof, being an existing site - the Span+ dealt with our structural problems quite well". Whether it's an existing or new build, Span+ can be engineered to fit any roof. Our Engineering team worked closely with our client to provide a solution to support the HVACR units without compromising the structural integrity of the building. “Three benefits of the Span+ platform is, it’s lightweight, the lead-times for manufacturing are super quick and, the cost... it also provides the same structural integrity as a traditional steel platform” said Adam Ford, Accounts Specialist at Con-form Group. Span+ is lightweight, strong, can span over 10.5m between rafters and can be installed five times faster than traditional mechanical plant platforms. Despite the busy site, our team were able to complete the installation of three Span+ plant decks within three days. Watch the complete installation of Span+ below or on our YouTube. SOLAR SHEDS As an example of the many and varied custom designs we produce each month, here is a project with a difference. For starters, instead of being for the usual HVAC&R plant equipment, we created these platforms-with-steel-frame-enclosures for inverters for a big roof top solar system. We designed three sided enclosures with a 2800mm high angled roof then manufactured the frames and wall panels and installed them. Inside, the inverters were mounted to back-to-back steel panels with a 500m thermal gap between them. The enclosures sit on top of EasyMech MR purlin-mounted platforms which were also designed, manufactured and installed by Con-form Group. These are unique because they don't require penetration into the roof cavity. As such, there is no need for hot works on the roof and no interruption to occupants below. EasyMech MR is a lightweight, modular system which distributes loads evenly, reducing the structural requirements of the roof. It is engineered to a minimal live load rating of 2.5 kPa (this can be doubled, or more). Delivered in sections, it is very easy to assemble. It comes with a 25 year warranty. #projectreview #hvaclife #hvacr #hvacinstallation #engineeringsolution #nswrealestate #nswproperty #constructionindustry #hvacsolutions #projectsolutions #structuralengineer #engineers

Project review: Kew Gardens Aged Care. At Con-form Group we like being given opportunities to express our adaptability and thanks to APM Group and their Kew Gardens Aged Care project we were able to produce a HVAC&R platform with a unique chamfered screen. Screens are typically vertical however in this case the architect requested the 45-degree lean-back to mimic the various roof angles. We activated our internal Product Development Centre© (PDC) which includes CAD designers, engineers and production staff to create and build the 1900mm high structure. Once this was achieved they moved on to the remainder of this project which included a 32.8 x 7.6 metre platform. To add to the uniqueness of this enclosure three of the sides featured a solid acoustic backing panel, what we call a Solid SoundShield©. The fourth wall had gaps to allow ventilation (18.7% open air flow) to the HVAC&R equipment inside. Weight is an important matter when constructing roof top structures. This system included more than 400 slats for the screens, steel brackets, the HVAC&R platform plus chequer plate for the deck - which weighs more than the standard mesh system. Given that this platform dominated the roof top expanse - and was mounted over the ridge line - the ideal solution was our EasyMech MR. It is ultra-lightweight and mounted above the purlins so that it distributes its load evenly across the roof space, negating the need to add extra integrity to the existing framework. The Classic Screen Wall© is equally lightweight. The Light Gauge Steel framework for the screens also contributed to the low overall weight. Despite its light weight EasyMech MR has a live load rating of 2.5 kPa which can be increased to more than double that capacity. Super strength without the bulk. In the days of structural steel decks a project like this could take weeks or months to complete. However, Con-form Group pioneered the modular "Kit set" design which is easy and very quick to assemble. Only simple tools are required to put it all together in a fraction of the time. An additional benefit was the ability to provide uninterrupted installation. Because this industry-first design doesn't require the roof to be penetrated - it is surface mounted - the residents and staff could continue to occupy the facility during installation. We are proud of delivering an architecturally elegant visual barrier - finished in a contemporary Windspray colour - which complements the whole building, delivers superior acoustic performance and allows for crucial air flow. #hvacr #hvacinstallation #engineeringsolution #vicproject #constructionindustry #hvacsolutions #projectsolutions #structuralengineer #engineers

12,500 SQUARE METRES! That's how big the roof area was on this new shopping centre at Albion Park where we installed no less than eight screened platforms for HVAC&R equipment. It measured more than one quarter of a kilometre in length…so our installers definitely maxed out their step counts each day! The rafter mounted Span+ platforms were all different sizes with the biggest one being 20,000 x 7200mm. The castellated beam design enabled the platforms to distribute their loads across large spans between the rafters. The super-lightweight bolt-together frames (just 19 kg per square metre) were easy to carry into position and, as such, could be assembled five times quicker than conventional platforms. They didn't require any welding or cutting on the roof as they were prepared millimetre-perfect for assembly in our Manufacturing Centre of Excellence. The Span+ platforms sit on specially designed stub columns which enter a small hole in the roof material (our version of "key-hole" surgery!) and are clamped to the rafters below. There is no invasive drilling into the roof supports. The non-invasive nature of the attachment not only contributed to the speed of the installation but also meant that there was no need to evacuate people below. Business could continue as per usual. Different sized columns enabled the platforms to sit horizontally despite the roof pitch, which in this case varied between 1.5-2 degrees. Despite the lightness of Span+ the combination of its ultra-strong structural material and clever dispersive design means it has the strength and durability to support the biggest loads. In order to hide the unsightly HVAC&R equipment from the surrounding residential area and visiting shoppers we attached a custom designed screen to each platform. The ClassicScreen featured 2400mm high modular steel panels (made in our Manufacturing Centre) covered in a visually attractive Colorbond Monument colour. As well as being a visual barrier they have a functional purpose…the spacing between each panel allows air flow (18%) through to the plant equipment to ventilate it. We enjoy big projects like this one because they provide us with another opportunity to demonstrate our engineering prowess, production capacity and rapid turnaround. #projectreview #hvaclife #hvacr #hvacinstallation #engineeringsolution #nswrealestate #nswproperty #constructionindustry #hvacsolutions #projectsolutions #structuralengineer #engineers

PLENTY OF AIR Some types of HVAC&R plant equipment require a lot of air circulation to keep them properly ventilated while they are working, whilst at the same time the building owner wants the machinery to be hidden from view. This was the brief presented to us at the Burgmann Anglican School in Canberra and we provided a unique solution incorporating vertical slats which offered 50% air flow combined with spaces offering 100% flow. It was a collaboration between Con-form Group’s Industrial Design and Engineering departments. Two sides of the nine metre by three metre enclosure featured large open areas and half-height slats. Air could easily flow across the roof from one side to the other. Also the Classic Vertical Screenwall© slats, finished in an attractive Colorbond Monument colour, were separated by 65mm gaps to promote air movement between them. The screens were attached to an EasyMech MR© platform which is a unique lightweight, modular system placed on top of the roof above the purlins – there is no need to penetrate the roof to secure it. One benefit of this approach is that the building continued to be used uninterrupted whilst out installers were up top. Despite its low weight (just 14kg per square metre) and sleek design, EasyMech MR© has a live load rating of 2.5 kPa and greater. The parts simply bolt together, meaning there is no welding or cutting required on the roof. It is covered by our 25-year warranty. #projectreview #hvacplantplatforms #hvaclife #hvacinstallation #engineeringsolution #canberraconstruction #projectsolutions #constructionindustry #hvacsolutions #construction

AN ANGLED APPROACH This unique tapered screen on our Bundoora project hides a number of clever innovations. The architect specified a louvre screen tilted back at 75 degrees to hide the HVAC plant machinery and the end result is really eye-catching. Given that HVAC screens are usually vertical our engineers and production team collaborated to ensure that we could modify our LouvreWall© system. The enclosure spanned 42.5 metres x 10.5 metres and required more than 600 louvre blades in 6 metre lengths. The louvres, which are a visual barrier, allowed 55% airflow through to the equipment and were finished in an attractive Monument colour which complemented the building design. This part of the project was straightforward. The challenge began when we arrived on site to find that the steel fixing point on the roof wasn't straight and as a result the existing frames weren't in alignment. To use them would have meant that our louvres were out of alignment and there would be gaps between the end pieces. Also, the heavy gauge steel made it difficult to attach the louvre brackets. In order for us to ensure that the louvres lined up perfectly over the 42 metre distance, there weren't any gaps between them and we controlled where the mounting points would be our engineering teams designed and manufactured a steel angle bracket and sub-frame. This was fitted inside the existing structure. Having done this, the louvres went straight on in no time and we ended up with this very aesthetically pleasing result. #projectreview #hvaclife #hvacr #hvacinstallation #engineeringsolution #vicrealestate #vicproperty #constructionindustry #hvacsolutions
