Connecting more people to meaningful work for 40 years. We work with job seekers and employers.

About us

In 1983, the councils surrounding Bendigo responded to a survey on youth unemployment skill shortages in the area. There was a need to have young people actively employed, while learning the skills needed to become tradesmen in their chosen fields. Employment services provider Central Victoria Group Apprenticeship Scheme was born. In the beginning, we employed one manager who rode a bicycle to monitor the progress of his 12 apprentices. The business has grown from strength to strength and as an employment services provider, now employs over 400 people in a diverse range of employment programs and specialties across Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. Delivering positive economic and social benefits to the community is at the heart of what CVGT Employment does. In addition to providing quality employment services, we have a real commitment to supporting the towns and cities where we operate. We do this through community grants, corporate sponsorship, awards and scholarships. Phone us on 132 848 or visit www.cvgt.com.au.

On Saturday, May 4, the Autism Advisory & Support Service (AASS) hosted their annual Foundation of Hope Charity Ball. Regional Manager Kellie Jackson and Liverpool Manager Ahmad Samra were thrilled to see so many compassionate individuals come together to support a fantastic cause! Autism Advisory and Support Service (AASS) are a non-for-profit organisation that empower children and adults with Autism and their families through knowledge and support and assists them to positively impact and influence their children’s social and emotional development. “We work closely with AASS who support our Disability Employment Service participants. Sponsoring the 2024 Foundation of Hope Charity Ball was one way we could help support the amazing work they do,” Kellie said. The money raised will be used so AASS can continue to provide the invaluable work of assisting and filling gaps in service provision for individuals with Autism and their families.

For years, injuries and mobility issues made life tough for Adam, while discrimination because of his disabilities meant finding work was difficult. “After waiting eight years for the surgery, I had had enough of sitting around. With the support of CVGT Employment I started working again at Wholesale Butcher with John and Grant,” Adam says. “I couldn’t work with a better group of people.” John and Grant want to encourage other business owners to diversify their workforce and employ people with a disability. “It’s great to help someone back into the workforce and see them develop,” they say. “We are willing to teach if they are willing to learn. "We’d encourage others to definitely give CVGT Employment a go – they do the screening and provide additional support, so we would definitely recommend them."

Menstruating isn't a choice, but those experiencing homelessness or doing it tough often have to choose between purchasing period products or other essential items just to get by. They shouldn't have to choose. Since Share the Dignity was founded in 2015, the organisation has collected and distributed over 4 million period products - thanks to the kindness and generosity of people like our Wodonga team. Penny and Khoa from the Wodonga team are proud to show some of the items the team have collected for March Dignity Drive. "Very proud to work with the Wodonga team who always generously donate to local charities. Consistently living and working our values, especially Community Matters," says Penny Curran, ParentsNext Transition Support Coach. Find out how to get involved: https://lnkd.in/g2_4SXDU

In the world of sports, Chris McMahon has carved his name in gold, having won over 200 medals as a Special Olympian. However, among the glittering accolades there is another milestone equally cherished and significant to Chris, his five-year service award at the Eltham Leisure Centre. “He just loves it! Still, after five years, he never misses a day,” says Chris’s Mum, Mel McMahon.   Chris started swimming with Special Olympics when he was 12 years old. Over the years he has represented Victoria at the National Games in every State of Australia. He also went on to represent Australia at the Asia Pacific Games. But in 2019, Chris had set his sights on a new goal, to find meaningful work.    “So, he took us to the CVGT Employment Greensborough office. Our lives changed that day.”    “When I first met Chris, I knew I wanted to turn his passion and dedication for competitive swimming into a life-long career,” Kelly Patrick, CVGT Employment Inclusion Coordinator says. In December 2023, Chris popped into the CVGT Specialist Disability Employment Ivanhoe office to celebrate being awarded his five-year service award at the Eltham Leisure Centre. “I am so proud of myself. A big thank you to Kelly and Sabrina, you put a lot of effort into finding and helping me, you’ve done a great job!” says Chris.   Congratulations Chris on your five - year service award! You are an inspiration! You can read Chris's full story on our website here https://lnkd.in/g_JsC_X9 Aligned Leisure

Today marks National Close The Gap Day 2024. For more than a decade now, Australians from every corner of the country, in schools, businesses and community groups, have shown their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity by marking National Close the Gap Day on the third Thursday in March each year. At CVGT Employment we are committed to delivering employment services that meet the needs of First Nations people. We understand the crucial role we play in building pathways to inclusive employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. “Employment is critical to the health and prosperity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It offers social and economic benefits that flow to individuals, families, communities and the economy as a whole,”  Australian Government, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. "Having a job can be transformational. It creates financial independence and fosters new and improved skills. It also acts as a gateway to other opportunities." On this National Close The Gap Day, we urge all businesses and employers to consider their critical role in recruiting, developing staff and providing safe workplaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We're here to work with you, your business and community to build a society that values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and provides a supportive environment for employment. #CloseTheGap #NationalCloseTheGap2024
