📣 Google is about to erase your historical Google Analytics UA data. Starting on July 1, 2024, all site owners will lose access to the Universal Analytics interface and API. If you have migrated to GA4 already, why does it even matter? ➡ Loss of Access You will lose access to the Universal Analytics user interface and API, so you won't be able to view historical data from before you set up GA4 like you can now. ➡ Exporting Historical Data You will need to export historical reports before July 1, 2024, to ensure you retain access to historical data for analysis and decision-making. ➡ Trend Analysis Analysing historical will help you identify patterns, trends, and seasonal variations in user behaviour and website performance. ➡ Strategy Optimisation Studying historical data will guide the evolution of your marketing, content, and user engagement strategies by highlighting what has worked well in the past and what needs improvement. How can you export and store the historical data? There are currently several ways to export data from your Universal Analytics property: 1) Exporting individual reports in the formats like CSV, TSV, Excel, Google Sheets, PDF, etc. 2) Using Google Analytics Reporting API to export data to Google Drive (or other cloud storage) and connecting to Looker Studio. 3) Using third-party tools like Supermetrics and Funnel.
