Cleaning your epoxy floor can be quick and easy once you know the technique. Whether you are cleaning a garage floor, external epoxy, or your hallway, you can still do it with ease and faster than it would take you to clean tiles and other hard floor surfaces. Sweep or vacuum regularly, always use soft brush attachments or broom options. Mopping at least once a fortnight will keep your floor in top shape, using pH-neutral products and warm water. Spot clean with warm soapy water as soon as the spill occurs. Outdoor areas don’t necessarily need stronger cleaning products – pressure washers with the fan nozzle can be used for areas with accumulated dirt. As always, use caution, and if trying a new cleaning product or technique on your epoxy floor, please test it first in a small area. We are here to help, should you want more information. toughfloors.com.au #epoxyfloors #cleaningepoxyfloor #epoxy #tough #flooringlife #bespoke #commercial #epoxyfloors

When it came to our front entry floor area – we were faced with a dilemma. Being an old slab, and very much part of the building’s history, we knew the aggregate used would be from the Mary River and therefore quite interesting, so we didn’t want to cover it. Unfortunately, due to its age and poor installation, the slab had many visible cracks. This would pose a problem with typical grind and seal, as patching such large areas would look unsightly. I was always inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi and thought the metaphor of embracing one’s imperfections suited our home perfectly. Instead of filling the gaps with grey epoxy, we opted for metallic gold/copper and made it a feature! Duncan, Ethan and Andre all partook in the process and finished with a matt urethane product. We absolutely love the finished floor, making our entry area a spectacular feature, honouring our local history and a bit of Japanese culture at the same time. ~Kintsugi , or Kintsukuroi , literally golden (“kin”) and repair (“tsugi”). Kintsugi is the process of repairing ceramics traditionally with lacquer and gold, leaving a gold seam where the cracks were. The technique consists in joining fragments and giving them a new, more refined aspect. Stay grounded, Anna. Solventless, what does that mean? We always use solventless epoxy and polyurethane products, which deliver the following benefits: No nasty, headache-inducing smell. Because our epoxy doesn’t contain solvents, there is no evaporation. And no evaporation means no smell. Even better? We don’t need to factor in lost product due to evaporation, resulting in more product on the floor and greater protection. No harmful chemicals. We understand that the health and well-being of you and your family are of paramount importance. Unlike some products, our epoxy flooring doesn’t emit harmful chemicals. We’ve even heard stories of unhappy neighbours complaining about strong, chemical smells – that’s how far emissions can travel! No future outgassing. Concrete that’s covered in epoxy can ‘outgas,’ which means that, if using a product with a strong odour, the smell can come back in full force months after the job was completed. Using solventless epoxy is just one piece of the puzzle. We implement several best practices to ensure your home remains clean and comfortable.
