NATIONAL PRO BONO DAY 2024 | Every May on National Pro Bono Day, thousands of people around Australia take part in Walks for Justice to recognise and celebrate the incredible pro bono work that is done to make our society a fairer place. This year, Lander & Rogers teams in Brisbane and Sydney took part in the Queensland Legal Walk and NSW Walk for Justice. In Brisbane, the team led by Josh Hansberry arrived bright and early at the QEII Courts Precinct to join a walk with a record 1055 participants from the Queensland legal community in a show of support for LawRight QLD and its access to justice initiatives. Funds raised will aid LawRight in continuing its vital work, including the Self-Representation Service, which Lander & Rogers also regularly supports. In Sydney, a team led by Luna Zhou walked to support the work of the Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS) and the National Justice Project. In Melbourne, Lander & Rogers — Family & Relationship Law lawyers presented on their work in fighting for the rights of transgender children, highlighting our gender-based violence focus area. Across our offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne we also gathered to watch an inspiring film featuring personal stories and reflections from our colleagues and clients about the impact of our pro bono work. Congratulations to everyone involved for making National Pro Bono Day 2024 a memorable one! #probono #nationalprobonoday #lawfirm #lawyer

GLOBAL INNOVATION | Lander & Rogers is pleased to have hosted the UK Lawtech Mission to Australia at our Melbourne office this week. In collaboration with the UK Department for Business and Trade and the Ministry of Justice UK, we welcomed eight incredible legal techs for a roundtable discussion: Avvoka, Jigsaw, Trakti, Teal Compliance, Resolve Disputes Online, Verify 365 | Part of TM Group, Orbital Witness and Yao Technology. Led by Simon Davidson, Courtney Blackman and Stan Chua from Lander & Rogers and Helen Whitehead and Elisa Henderson from the UK Department for Business & Trade, innovation was at the core of conversation. We explored our approach to innovation and signature programs including the iHub, LawTech Hub, AI Lab and AI Clinics, as well as the legal tech landscape in Australia and its contrast with legal tech trends in the UK, including how nascent legal tech startups can approach and work with firms like Lander & Rogers. It was also a pleasure to have you with us Ewan Evans, Matthew Readett, Francis Gonzaga and GREAT Legal Services. We look forward to continuing the conversation, sharing market intelligence and fostering a global legal tech community. #LegalTech #Innovation #UKLawTechMission #Australia
