Imagine putting together 3.5kms worth of Lego blocks, and that each of those blocks was more than 10 meters wide!👀🧱 Well, that’s what our CPB Contractors team delivering the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport Surface, Civil and Alignment Works is doing as they bring a 3.5km elevated viaduct to life. These segments are manufactured locally using a precise technique to ensure they fit together accurately. During construction, our project team will use over 1100 segments, each measuring an impressive 10.85 meters wide, with slabs reaching 3.2 meters long and 2.4 meters tall. This train is sky-high! Three elevated viaducts that will take sections of the 23-kilometre Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport alignment up to 13.5-metres above the ground are taking shape. Nearly one kilometre of 3.5-kilometres of new metro viaduct has been constructed and the foundations for Luddenham Station, which will be located on the viaduct, are complete ahead of work on the station build starting next month. The Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project has reached another milestone with the foundation of the 190-metre-long rail bridge over the M12 motorway complete. In just seven months, the structure was completed using 3,850 tonnes of concrete – that’s equivalent to the weight of nine Boeing 747 jets ✈ Track laying on the new bridge will commence in 2024, and when operational, will connect metro services from Luddenham Station to Airport Business Park Station.
