How do I apply for an ETA to Australia?

01/26/2017 Applying for Australian ETA?

First, you need to make sure you meet the basic requirements.

If you hold a passport from one of these countries or regions, then you‘re qualified to apply for an ETA:
  • Brunei-Darussalam
  • Canada
  • Hong Kong (SAR PRC)
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • The United States of America

Your visit to the country must also be limited to:
  • tourism
  • visiting family/friends
  • business purposes (meetings, events, conferences)
You are not allowed to work on an ETA. If you want to undertake work in Australia, it is best to apply for an appropriate work visa.
Your ETA is valid for 12 months, and you are allowed to visit as many times as you like during this period. However, each visit must be limited to three (3) months, and you have no other Australian visas.

Step by Step ETA Application Process:
  1. Go to the Travel ETA website.
  2. Click “Apply for an ETA.”
  3. Select ETA Type (business or tourism) and Location
  4. Fill out your Personal and Passport Details (all information must be an exact match for what is in your passport).
  5. Check the accuracy of all of the information that you have provided.
  6. Enter Payment information.
  7. Wait for payment confirmation/receipt number.
  8. Get Reference number (for checking the status of your ETA).
  9. Check your email for application confirmation.
