The Process

Carl’s Kitchens have 16 years of experience in kitchens and bathroom renovations, Carl has been servicing Sydney and the surrounding suburbs with high-quality design and kitchen builds since 2001 with many satisfied customers the word of mouth has spread, with no signs of slowing down.

The process of building a kitchen is very different from that of designing a kitchen. The first step to designing a kitchen is finding what you want and need, and that it all fits within your budget. Depending on the amount type of flooring you will need there are several options available that won’t break your budget:

  1. The first option yet the cheapest would be vinyl flooring, but it is also the least attractive, vinyl tends to look plastic and fake as it does not provide the shine that other higher quality floors do.

  2. Secondly, Epoxy Flooring, it’s fairly cheap and fairly simple to do however getting the colour right can be difficult, some of the more common options to guarantee a consistent colon is charcoal powder within the epoxy mix. This means that the natural carbon colour when mixed with the glue has a decent matte-gloss but doesn’t shine that much, allowing easy to spot dirt and grease.

  3. Treated and lacquered wooden flooring, thirdly is not as common as it used to be. It is still usable due to it’s timeless look however hygiene can become an issue as the wood starts to rot away from underneath, there are some treatments that can prevent the moulding and wood rot, but ultimately this comes down to the environment that the house is situated in.

  4. Fourthly, Tiles are among the most common types of flooring, they are expensive, heavy and can become difficult to clean over time if they are not looked after. Installing the right tiles that will fit the style of your kitchen is the most important. For a decent kitchen you should allocate at least $100 a square foot towards your tile budget. This will give you a bigger slice of selection and also give you a chance to shop with a tile supplier that provides a warranty.

  5. Lastly, Granite flooring. Granite flooring is the best for your kitchen because it looks great, ads immaculate value and elegance to your home and is easy to clean. If you wish to learn more about tiles and flooring call Carl today on 0403 622 295.

The tricky part

The second part of the design process is to decide on where your kitchen placements should be, whether or not your kitchen should be two-piece island design or a one-piece L shape. Make sure to pay attention to the lighting in your house to decide what should go and where.

  1. You need to decide on the amount of drawers, spacing and the size of your sink.

  2. You need to ask yourself how often you cook and how much space you need. The bigger space you have to cook, the easier, and less stressful it is to clean up afterwards.

  3. Decide on a space for the fridge and microwave, microwaves typically should be accessible from without having to bend over or reach.

  4. Decide on the size of stove top or cook top that you need, there are many options for stainless steel and gas cooktops, you should research on high chromium alloys or high quality stainless steal stove tops that will not stain no matter what you throw at it.

The third part of the design process is to get some practical criticism on your dream kitchen and make sure that it is workable within your budget, if you need any suggestions or advice be sure to contact Carl today on 0403 622 295.

The fourth process or second process is the building or production of your kitchen, you’ll need to decide on how much you are willing to spend vs how quickly you need the kitchen installed.

Renovations typically can take some time. If you are looking for kitchen renovations in Penrith, Campbelltown, or the surrounding suburbs in Sydney, make sure you find someone like Carl who can point you in the right direction of what it is you need to do.
