Do you need a certificate?
Throughout Australia excluding NSW building regulations set minimum standards for energy efficiency in new residential developments. A NatHERS certificate is one way to satisfy these regulations.
In NSW you will need a BASIX® certificate for:
• Any new residential dwelling
• For alterations and additions work on existing dwellings where the estimated construction cost of the work is more than $50,000 and where development approval is required.
• For a swimming pool of 40,000 litres capacity or more
When do you need a certificate?
You're best to pursue a certificate after your plans have been drawn. You will need your BASIX® certificate when you're submitting your plans to council with the development application.
