Storytelling about benefits for working in the industry (such as career development) is key! 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: Hotel brands are empowering their leaders with the tools to support their staff by ensuring they have mental health first-aid programs, while putting health & wellbeing at the forefront to attract talent and retain staff. 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘃𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲: with customer expectations continuing to rise, brands are having to re-imagine what great customer experiences look like, and how they leave their guests feeling. David Sude (QT Hotels and Resorts) shared, "Every brand has their own DNA, there is no right and wrong and they deliver a different experience and have got to be really passionate to thrive in this space." Our Head of Production & Ethical Sourcing Adele Lanson giving an update on the sustainability and circularity initiatives she is driving forward with the crew every day 🌏 Amazing progress in uniform recycling, donation for social good and breathing new life into surplus fabrics. All possible alongside our supporting partners, UPPAREL, Thread Together & Circular Sourcing.
Earth Day was last Monday and it's always a good time to take stock of our ESG and circular accomplishments. We all know that the journey towards a more sustainable and circular future takes time and sustainability is about progress, not perfection. So, what progress the team at Cargo Crew and I have been working on? I am excited to share and celebrate that: ♻️ We have diverted from landfill close to 2 tones of textiles with the amazing support of Sonia Konstantinou and Riley Aickin at UPPAREL. Our Recycling Uniform Program have been helping businesses like Stockland, OPSM or City of Whittlesea to divert and recycle their old uniform. 👩🏻🤝👨🏿 We are pursuing our partnership with Thread Together and recently donated some clothing to help support people in need and create positive change. The volunteer team at Thread Together collects end of line brand new stock from brands and gives them to people in need; which also keep clothing in circulation and protect the environment by saving these items from landfill.Thanks for your help Danni Williams 👕 We have almost sold out one of our fabric references on the Circular Sourcing platform. 8 rolls of fabric have been purchased and sent all over Australia to find a new owner and have a new life. Circular sourcing has been created by Courtney Holm to help businesses selling their dormant stock of fabric and therefore diverting greenhouse gas and textile from landfill. Such a brilliant initiative. Thanks to Lily Clatworthy who has been (and still is!) incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. We are working every day, to prioritise meaningful and genuine environmental impact and act on social issues. It’s a long journey but it’s exciting to see all these progresses coming along.
