As skies lit up with the Aurora Australis over the weekend our team was closely monitoring the transmission network for potential impacts. 🛰🌎 Transgrid was ready to respond to any disruptions caused by the extreme planetary geomagnetic storm and worked with other agencies to ensure any issues were detected quickly. The storm was the most severe of its kind to hit the planet since 2003. General Manager of Network Operations Jason Krstanoski said: “The conditions we observed over the weekend are rare but significant. Our critical infrastructure is not immune from the impacts of space weather and that is something we have to take into account when operating the grid.” “While we escaped any disruptions, the geomagnetic storm highlighted the need to continue investing in adapting the electricity grid to ensure it remains resilient and secure, both now and in the future,” Jason said. Later this month some of our people will be heading to Adelaide to take part in Exercise Aurora which is being run by the National Emergency Management Agency to explore preparations and responses to space weather. #energytransition #AuroraAustralis #spaceweather #gridsecurity

People. Power. Possibilities. Leading the transition to a clean energy future.
About us
Over decades of technical excellence, we’ve enabled the smooth operation of over 13,060km of high voltage transmission wires and 122 substations in NSW and the ACT, with connections to Victoria and Queensland. Our most crucial work is leading the transition to Australia’s clean energy future. The traditional coal system that served our country for decades is nearing the end of its life, to be replaced by wind and solar generation. We’re making the right decisions now to prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead – a changing climate, population growth and technology innovation. As we lead the way towards a more resilient future, we’re working closely with our customers and communities to make sure no one is left behind. Wherever you are in NSW or the ACT, you can be confident in the reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity we transmit as we make a better power system for generations to come.

A state-of-the-art worker accommodation camp is taking shape at Dinawan, near Coleambally NSW, as part of Australia’s largest transmission project. The 460-bed facility will house Transgrid and Elecnor Australia personnel building a world-class substation and transmission line as construction of EnergyConnect moves east towards Wagga Wagga. Australian Portable Camps has delivered 150 buildings to the 1.5ha camp site with facilities to include a laundry, kitchen, dining room, games room, spiritual room and gym as well as a water treatment plant. The Dinawan camp is one of six worker accommodation facilities along the 700km project alignment, housing up to 1,400 workers. The camps ensure personnel are safe and comfortable while working away from home and bring more people into local communities without adding pressure to limited housing and accommodation. Today, our CEO Brett Redman had the privilege of speaking at the Australian British Chamber of Commerce Energy Transition and Investment Summit, addressing the topic of "A Smooth Transition", sharing insights on why transmission is the linchpin to Australia's energy future. It was also a great opportunity to hear Minister Chris Bowen MP discuss the Federal Government’s ambitious plans for the energy transition. Transgrid is committed to building 2,500km of energy transmission lines and infrastructure over the next decade to make the transition possible. Thank you to the ABCC and Ticky Fullerton for hosting such an insightful event. #energytransition #makingitpossible #cleanenergyfuture

✳️At Transgrid, we recognise the significance of blood donations and offer paid Blood Donors Leave for reasonable time lost, up to half a day. And if you donate blood products like plasma and platelets, you can take leave for up to 35 hours per year. 💪Here's Jeffree attending his regular donation appointments. He currently has 120 donations under his belt and is still counting! 🤗When asked about his motivation, he shared, "I mainly donate plasma and platelets, which take longer than whole blood but can be donated more frequently. You can donate plasma and platelets as often as once a fortnight. My motivation is to make a positive impact on the community and raise awareness. These donations serve a variety of purposes. Platelets are used in leukaemia and cancer treatments. They can only be donated by males and have a short shelf life of 7 days. The proportion of the population that receives blood products in their lifetime is significant, but the number of people that donate is simply not enough." 💉Do you know that you can join teams on Lifeblood? Why not check your eligibility today and join the Transgrid team? https://brnw.ch/21wJpUl #blooddonation #EAP #makingitpossible #JoinTransgrid #TransgridCareer #GiveBlood
