After leaving college in 2019, Jemma embarked on her professional journey through an apprenticeship in Digital Applications with QA Apprenticeships, which placed her at Add Energy. Upon completing her apprenticeship, she continued with Add Energy as an Operations Administrator, where she gained valuable experience in various administrative duties. Following her tenure at Add Energy, Jemma transitioned to DJ Alexander, serving as a Lease Administrator. Seeking to return to her roots in the Oil and Gas industry, Jemma has joined Sonomatic where she will leverage her administrative prowess as a Project Administrator. In her new role, she will support project managers by coordinating personnel and equipment for ongoing and upcoming projects. Utilising the advanced MEC™ (Magnetic Eddy Current) technique, we've set new standards in the detection of corrosion and pitting across large areas swiftly and reliably. MIC, known for its rapid corrosion progression, poses a significant threat to pipeline integrity, contributing to approximately 70% of internal leaks. Traditional methods often fall short in identifying affected areas early and effectively. The MEC™ method, however, shines in its ability to inspect through coatings, eliminating the need for direct sensor-to-piping contact and offering unparalleled advantages in speed, coverage and data resolution. Key Highlights of the MEC™ Inspection: ✅ Rapid inspection of extensive piping areas, completing hundreds of feet within days. ✅ Highly efficient 2-man crew operation, minimising personnel on board (POB) and equipment requirements. ✅ Ability to accurately identify defect locations and assess material thickness beyond the capabilities of standard Eddy Current testing. Melissa, a recent graduate from the Polytechnic University of Turin, earned her Master's Degree in Mathematical Engineering in October 2023. Her academic pursuits focused on applied mathematics, physics and data analysis, particularly utilising MATLAB. Joining us as her first professional endeavour post-university, Melissa's responsibilities will include all things Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) - RP103, NII assessment, work scope and evaluation as well as conducting advanced analysis of inspection data. Sonomatic is thrilled to welcome Leon Williams who has joined our Aberdeen team, stepping into the role of Software Engineer. Leon has an impressive academic background, holding an Integrated Master's in Chemical Physics from the University of Glasgow. His master’s thesis, a pivotal project focused on building agent-based physics models to analyse economic systems, served primarily as a means to hone his software development skills. Additionally, Leon’s academic journey included a year-long work placement at the Diamond Light Source Synchrotron in Oxford, where he conducted advanced materials research, particularly on graphene and other 2D materials at the I09 beamline. Throughout his studies and research, Leon has engaged in extensive data analysis and programming, skills that he will bring to his role at Sonomatic. He will play a key role in developing and implementing Machine Learning models into the data analysis processes of our integrity team. Welcome to the team, Leon!
