It’s not every day that you have snakes in the office! Our team recently got close and personal with a number of reptiles at a snake handling and relocation training course. The training involved an education session to learn more about Australian snakes, first aid training, appropriate protective clothing and equipment, as well as techniques to safely relocate reptiles. The trainees and a few other keen employees were also given the opportunity to hold Monty (Python) and Mr T (Children's Python). Many thanks to the herpetologists and training team at Animal Ark for a very lively and educational session!

Meet Faith, one of our awesome apprentices at BTP. After starting her training in the light vehicle trade, Faith decided she was keen to try working on something bigger and made the move to BTP. Faith is now training to be a Heavy Duty Mechanic at our Mt Thorley branch. “I like working at BTP because you can communicate with everyone, it is easy to ask questions and get the answers you need, and I get training from lots of people”, said Faith. “I really enjoy this role because I am learning something new every day.” As part of her apprenticeship, Faith will have the opportunity to work on powertrain components, hydraulic cylinders and full equipment rebuilds. What happens to old uniforms in your workplace? At BTP, our old uniforms are collected and upcycled into new items like these awesome bucket hats! BTP has partnered with social enterprise Loop Upcycling to reduce textile waste and create meaningful work opportunities for vulnerable people. The team at Loop Upcycling take our old, end-of-life uniforms and transform them into new, functional products that can be used by our workforce, such as these fabulous hats. As part of the process, Loop Upcycling provides employment for people who have experienced disadvantage, such as asylum seekers, survivors of domestic violence and people living with homelessness. The program develops skills for people who face barriers to traditional employment, and empowers individuals to build their independence. It also saves a whole bunch of uniforms from going into landfill, and provides our team with colourful hats that brighten up their day and protect them from the sun! Our team had a fabulous time at the recent BTP family day at Adventure World! The BTP Big Day Out was an opportunity for employees to catch up with their colleagues outside of the workplace and enjoy time with their families. The little ones loved the fairground rides, while the big kids took on the challenge of the rollercoasters and waterslides, including the Abyss, Goliath and The Kraken! A picnic lunch brought everyone together in the BTP Team Zone to share their adventures. The BTP Big Day Out provided the perfect opportunity for our team to unwind, create lasting memories and build stronger connections. On International Women's Day, BTP would like to celebrate the contributions made by women in our workforce and encourage more females to join our team. Female participation in our workforce has doubled over the last three years, and BTP is training more female apprentice mechanics, auto electricians and machinists than ever before. We want to see these numbers continue to grow in the coming years and are committed to providing additional career opportunities for women. Team BTP is taking part in the Up All Night challenge to raise funds to support families with sick kids. Up All Night is a 42km walking marathon that starts at dusk and goes til dawn. The funds raised will be used to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the amazing work they do to help WA families with unwell and injured children. For parents of sick kids, sleepless nights are a regular occurrence. Tonight, Team BTP is walking in their shoes, staying up all night and going the extra mile to provide support for families that need a helping hand.
