  • Homestyle Aged Care are committed to giving back to the community and helping other businesses and communities to thrive. We do this in a number of ways; including sponsoring community organisations that are making a positive difference to the lives of Australians, and partnering with local businesses helping to support their growth. Our Homestyle team, as well as the residents also volunteer their time, skills and expertise to support a variety of organisations. These include things like voluntary work and visiting community events & festivals. In December 2023 our three Geelong homes began an off-site volunteering program with the Geelong Mums; who have recently re-branded to Our Village Australia. Working with the support of the Lifestyle Co-ordinators at each of the homes, they pick up bundles of donated clothes from the Geelong Mums Warehouse. The residents then sort and fold baby and toddler clothes into gift packs categorised in specific sizes. These packs are then delivered back to the warehouse and then given to a Geelong mum in need. The ‘Folding Sessions’ have been a great success with lots of laugher and reminiscence during these sessions, with conversations about cloth nappies, raising children and how times have changed. Our photos of the lovely ladies at Kensington Grange are testament to this! The knitting group at Sea Views Manor meet and knit squares to be sewn together to make blankets to be gifted. Each mum who receives a knitted blanket also receives a toy fixed by the volunteers. One of the residents Marj, has knitted at least 20 jumpers to date, and Irene has knitted many beautiful teddies. Residents at all different stages of their health, those in good health, those not so mobile, and residents living with dementia have all been able to participate and enjoy these sessions. Some residents have even requested to fold bags in their rooms over the weekend as they have found great purpose in this activity. We are proud to be part of the Our Village Australia Community as we believe it is important to give back. #agedcare #agedcareaustralia #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #givingback #community #volunteerwork #volunteering #volunteerskills #volunteertime #volunteeropportunity #knitting

  • Homestyle Aged Care are proud Sponsors of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Student Awards at Deakin University. The School of Nursing and Midwifery Annual Student Awards, formally recognise students achievements across all Deakin campuses and acknowledges outstanding efforts, dedication, academic performance and significant commitment to the University and wider community. The 2024 winners of the Homestyle Aged Care Awards were: Rebecca (Bec) Dunne, winner of the Homestyle Aged Care Award (Burwood) which is awarded to a third year student in recognition of excellence and commitment to quality care of the older person in the unit HNN318: Care of the Older Person.  and Jonathan (Jonny) Hedt, winner of the Homestyle Aged Care Award (Waterfront) which is awarded to a third year student in recognition of excellence and commitment to quality care of the older person in the unit HNN318: Care of the Older Person. Interestingly both were mature age students. Homestyle CEO Tim Humphries had a chance to meet with and speak with both winners who were extremely grateful and appreciative to receive the award. Jonny (from Geelong) was very aware of Homestyle and spoke remarkably well in his speech following receipt of the award. It’s great to see Aged Care in this environment in a positive light, and several award winners spoke of caring for older people. #agedcare #agedcareaustralia #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #sponsorship #awards #sponsors #nursing #nursingawards #careawards

  • Homestyle resident's Irene, Rosalind and Betty from our Kensington Grange, Belmont Grange and Sea Views Manor homes enjoyed attending the Geelong Mums - just re-branded to Our Village Australia, Mother's Day Lunch at Mt Duneed Estate near Geelong on May 10. Resident's from our Geelong homes began participating in an off-site volunteer program for the Geelong Mums last December, and already it has been an outstanding success. Residents in all different stages of health have been able to participate in and enjoy these baby and children’s clothing folding sessions. Some residents also fold the baby clothes in their rooms over the weekend as they have found great purpose in this activity. Thanks to the commitment and support of our Lifestyle Co-ordinators Alana, Jess and Julianne, we are thrilled to be participating in the volunteer off-site Program for the Geelong Mums as we believe it is important to give back to the Community. Thanks to Our Village for a wonderful Luncheon, the volunteers that helped make the day such a great success and to Alana, Jess & Julianne for bringing the residents to the lunch. Our Village volunteers had heard so much about the Homestyle resident's off-site volunteer program and were delighted to meet some of the Homestyle team and residents involved in the project. Keep up the great work Homestyle Geelong Residents, your folding & sorting, knitting and crocheting is a wonderful contribution to families in need in the Geelong area. #agedcare #agedcareaustralia #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #geelongmums #volunteerwork #volunteer #volunteeroffsite #givingback #clothingdonations #offsitevolunteer #volunteerprogram #community #homestyleagedcare #ourvillagelunch2024

  • Kensington Grange Kids Club has a wonderful start! Students from Leopold Primary School visited Kensington Grange and were quick to make some new friends shortly after arriving. Residents were well prepared for the visit and showed off their knowledge of teen slang, the laughter and conversations that followed were truly heartwarming. Students were paired up with residents and questions were asked in every direction, at the same time getting to know one another and comparing childhoods. The children from Leopold Primary School will continue to make regular visits throughout the year, we look forward to seeing intergenerational friendships flourish. #agedcare #agedcareaustralia #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #intergenerationalprogram #intergenerational

  • Homestyle Aged Care were proud to be the major Sponsor of ‘A Walk in the Park’ Geelong on Sunday May 5th. Raising awareness and fundraising to support people living with Parkinson’s Disease, the 2km walk around the Geelong Botanical Gardens was an opportunity for people living in the greater Geelong region to come together as a Community. Together we can Fight Parkinson’s. Support and information can make a significant and positive to the lives of those living with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. Homestyle Group General Manager Jane Jenkins, along with Homestyle staff attended ‘A Walk in the Park Geelong’ last weekend, giving away balloons and Goodie Bags as participants crossed the finishing line. We all cheered the walk participants including Ross a resident from our Kensington Grange home. There were many smiles and new connections made on a lovely sunny Geelong day. #agedcare #agedcareaustralia #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #fightparkinsons #parkinsonsaustralia #parkinsonsawareness #parkinsonsupport #awalkinthepark #awalkintheparkgeelong #parkinsonscare #parkinsonsvictoria #parkinsonswalkgeelong #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsonsexercise #parkinsonsfitness

  • Our Melville Grange home held a wonderful Mother's Day market. The residents, their families and staff attended and purchased from a variety of donated goods, organic produce, craft and plants. The residents also enjoyed a morning tea with delicious homemade apple cake, scones with jam and cream and a cuppa. The residents contributed to the market by baking Anzac cookies, making some crafts and potting some plants. Feedback from residents indicated that the market was a "huge success", and they were all looking forward to the next one! #agedcare #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #agedcareaustralia #market #mothersday #mothersdaystall

  • The residents at Belmont Grange recently enjoyed a visit from Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs for World Guide Dog Day. This day celebrates the important role Guide Dogs play in supporting people all around the world with low vision or blindness to achieve their goals and live independently. The residents throughly enjoyed the visit, cuddling and patting the dogs. It is said that Pet Therapy can improve social interaction, reduce stress, agitation, depression and anxiety as well as stimulate better cognitive function, and these photos of the residents cuddling and patting the Guide Dogs certainly shows the joy the dogs visit bought. Thank you Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs.  🦮❤️ #agedcare #agedcareaustralia #agedcaremelbourne #agedcaregeelong #seeingeyedogs #visionimpairment #visionaustralia #worldguidedogday #lowvision #blindness #guidedogs #pettherapy
