Stärke is excited to welcome back our Project Engineers, Alex Baricz and James Mathison, after their successful two-week intensive training at GE Additive, Sweden. During their training, they honed the practical skills required to operate and maintain Stärke-AMG's Arcam A2XX additive manufacturing printers, distinguished by their capability to print titanium and other exotic materials. As a result of this, we are thrilled to announce our crucial role in the pioneering iLAuNCH Trailblazer project. This initiative is poised to revolutionize the space industry and advance Australian manufacturing capabilities. In partnership with the Future Industries Institute at the University of South Australia (UniSA), we're establishing an advanced manufacturing facility. This facility will utilise additive manufacturing (AM) techniques to design stronger and more durable satellite and hypersonic vehicle structures. The iLAuNCH Trailblazer project isn't just about technological advancement; it's about boosting the space sector and creating new employment opportunities. We are fully committed to developing a world-class Australian sovereign additive manufacturing capability. Our project utilises Electron Beam Melting (EBM) of metals, a cutting-edge technology that offers exceptional advantages. EBM's high-temperature capabilities and ability to create resilient, flexible parts are transformative, enabling us to explore new design possibilities in space engineering. The DIA (Design Institute of Australia) has selected eighteen jurors to participate in this high-profile event, and Timothy's expertise as an industrial designer and innovation team leader has earned him a well-deserved spot among these distinguished professionals. As a juror, Timothy will be a crucial part of the transparent judging process, evaluating nominee portfolios based on design excellence. The judging process ensures that all candidates are considered fairly and impartially. Additionally, judges will interview the finalists to assess their transferable workplace skills and their predicted impact on the Australian design industry. Yesterday, the DIA released the names of the first jurors invited to judge the high-profile Graduates of the Year Awards 2023 (Gotya). The following four jurors out of eighteen include industrial designer and innovation team leader Timothy Wilkinson, graphic design and product development principal at Nexus Designs Sally Evans, Sara Horstmann founder of architecture, interior design and landscape architecture practice Das Studio, and FOS Collective's interior designer Spiroula Joanna Stathakis. Super excited! Gotya is Australia's top program for emerging designers, created to support and celebrate exceptional Australian designers as they embark on their careers. What's it all about? Tertiary institutions around the country have, in recent months, been invited to nominate their top graduates across traditional disciplines into the three new categories—Place, Use, and Interact. Nominee portfolios are anonymously evaluated on their design excellence based on a transparent judging process and criteria. Judges will interview our finalists to determine their transferable workplace skills and predicted impact on the Australian design industry. Gotya partners with major partner Stylecraft The State and National winners will be announced on 7 September, with tickets on sale for events in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
