AI IN LEGAL TECH | The LawTech Hub by Lander & Rogers has welcomed its seventh cohort of residents, with AI as the unifying theme: Ask Lexi by Lext, Mary Technology, and Vici by OCRT Consulting. This talented group is harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to supercharge productivity, streamline administrative tasks, and clarify complex information. The first of its kind in Australia, the LawTech Hub by Lander & Rogers connects startups and scaleups with lawyers to design and build transformative legal technology. Over the next six months, Lander & Rogers’ lawyers and AI engineers will pilot the residents' platforms and provide feedback and guidance. The cohort will also have access to experts from the firm’s iHub innovation function, and external specialists. ADVANCING ETHICAL AI | This week at Lander & Rogers we marked the finale of our latest AI Clinic, a program run in partnership with Monash University that explores ethical considerations in the application of AI within the legal sector. As part of the clinic, led by Lander & Rogers' Courtney Blackman and Dr Jacqueline Weinberg from Monash University, law students investigated how AI technologies can be responsibly integrated into legal practices. Their findings provide invaluable insights into the ethical use of AI and reinforce our firm's commitment to responsible innovation. UNDERSTANDING CORONIAL INVESTIGATIONS | Coronial investigations and inquests present unique issues for hospitals and health organisations that need to be sensitively and expertly managed. In a recent seminar for Legalwise Seminars, medical indemnity and health lawyers Jane Fiske and Fiona Karmouche presented on the coronial jurisdiction when a death occurs in a health setting, exploring how to prepare for and manage an investigation or inquest; strategies for avoiding adverse outcomes, and implications for related proceedings. According to the latest Coroners Court Annual Report, the Victorian Coroners Court opened 7,480 new investigations and finalised 7,620 investigations in the 2022/2023 year.

EXHIBITION | Lander & Rogers has welcomed artist Thurbill Pouk to showcase her exhibition "Nyajal and the Pink Zebra" as part of the firm's Gallery Project 35 series, a platform for emerging artists. Nyajal and the Pink Zebra is Ms Pouk's first major body of works, exploring themes of womanhood, identity, and her journey within faith. This journey is set against the backdrop of her South Sudanese heritage, creating a juxtaposition of ideas, concepts and questions.
