Changing the software experience

About us

In 1995, while still in university, Cam and Marty launched an IT business operating from a garage in the outer suburbs of Greensborough, Victoria, with nothing but a few Pentium 60s. Although new to running a business, their genuine care for helping clients with complex problems saw the business grow beyond just a two-person team, opening offices in Melbourne CBD, Perth and Toronto. Their commitment to building long-term relationships and focus on delivering high-quality software across government and enterprise sectors helped the company go from a little development house to an international award-winning business. Having delivered hundreds of projects for some of Australia’s most well-known brands over the past 30 years and accumulating half a million hours of experience, we only bid on projects we know we can deliver on. Guided by our mission of changing the software experience, we take ownership of your project by allocating a capable team with deep industry experience in your domain. We showcase our commitment by providing a no-cost working prototype upfront. This allows us to demonstrate that we grasp your requirements, and to experience what it's like working with us. Understanding that the objectives of your project are critical to the core operations of your organisation we embrace strong governance and process to build a solution fit for purpose while working towards tight deadlines. To remain well-resourced to achieve your project outcomes, we choose sustained growth over rapid scale and back the quality of our work with an industry-leading 24-month warranty. Small enough to care, yet big enough for projects of any size, we are a culturally and gender-diverse team, who take pride in the projects we deliver and the impact we make. With 90% of full-time employees based in Australia, an average tenure of more than six years and an engagement rate of 93%, you can have confidence that we’re a company you can rely on for the long term.

Meet Stuart Harris, or as we like to call him, Stu. His passion for tech started in 1982 when he wrote machine code on the Commodore 64. I think it's fair to say technology has come a long way since then.  For the past 7 1/2 years, he has really helped set the standard for the quality of our projects and the results our clients achieve.  Today, we're excited to announce that Stu will be one of the main mentors at the OutSystems Developer Cloud Forge-athon Challenge 2024 to help give back to the developer community. If you're looking to develop your knowledge and upskill, this is a phenomenal opportunity to learn from one of the best in the industry, not that we're biased or anything. 😀 To catch Stu live in action, check out the event: https://lnkd.in/grJ8fai9

In 1995, while still in university, our co-founders Cameron and Martin worked on an IT project together to help a small accounting firm. Although they started with a one-off project, the business quickly grew beyond the two of them, eventually opening offices in Melbourne, Perth, and Toronto some years later. Their genuine care for helping clients with complex problems, commitment to building long-term relationships, and focus on delivering high-quality software helped them stand out. Close to three decades later, nothing has changed. These values are still deeply rooted in the company culture, helping us stay true to who we are and what we stand for. Company values should be more than words on an office wall or in a training manual. When everyone on your team believes in them, there are no limits to what can be achieved, especially when they are authentically demonstrated from the top. Thoughts?

Getting involved in projects that positively impact our community is not just part of our vision statement; it's who we are and what drives us every day. So, when we were asked by the Field.jobs to help them disrupt the employment space, we couldn’t wait to get involved.     With a 30% employment gap between people with and without disability, there was a real opportunity to build an accessible job platform that had the potential to transform the industry.     One that enabled candidates to control their personal brand and assist in finding meaningful roles or careers without the misconceptions of recruiters from the more traditional formats.     The solution also needed to provide employers with a platform that removes barriers and equips them to hire more inclusively, empowering them to unlock incredible talent across all industries and levels of experience.     Built on OutSystems, the site is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG) Level AA compliant. It was subject to rigorous testing to ensure it's optimised for screen readers and other assistance devices.    Thanks to the amazing effort of everyone involved, it won the 2023 annual CRN Australia award for customer experience not long after the site went live.    It's amazing to know that what started as an idea is now a platform thousands of people use to find jobs and hire talent nationwide. Below is a glimpse of the journey. 👇     #kiandra #thefield #softwaredevelopment #accessibility #equalityapplieshere

With Only 25% of the workforce being women in tech roles, we think it's time more companies hire women to bridge the gender gap ratio. Not because it suits the agenda or to hit quotas, but because diversity in tech teams yields better outcomes. With 60% of our leadership roles represented by women and 41% across the entire company, we've witnessed the impact of diversity first-hand. It's a goal that's taken a long time but one that's been well worth it. Last week, we sat down with our very own Cassandra Wallace at the Melbourne office to pick her brain on what organisations can do to support more women in tech. Below are her top 3 tips: 1) Leadership   Strong representation of women in leadership positions ensures their unique perspectives are included in decisions about strategy, policy, and operational matters such as recruitment and performance management. 2) Flexibility Highly flexible and inclusive policies allow all employees to manage their work around their varied personal needs. This includes favourable and equitable parental leave, additional leave for personal pursuits and the democratisation of leave where you can buy, sell, or swap time off.     3) Next generation Investing in the future workforce can inspire generations of potential technologists to join this highly creative industry. Technology is no longer the domain of computer programmers. It’s a mixed collection of many skills, including people of different professional backgrounds. We'd love to know your thoughts.👇 #leadership #womenintech #softwaredevelopment #culture #kiandra

When the Field launched, we identified that it was absolutely critical to make our platform as accessible as possible, for as many different people as possible. That’s why we reached out to Kiandra to help us deliver Australia’s first disability-inclusive job board. “Our goal for the Field is to provide the closest digital experience possible for everyone, so those with disability can have equal access to digital employment tools. To achieve this, our users needed to be considered at every stage of the build, and feedback was a crucial element of this. Ongoing feedback and upgrades will ensure we continue to represent those with a disability, to showcase their strengths and abilities so they can reach employers like never before.” If you’re looking to re-vamp your business’ digital presence, be sure to reach out to Kiandra and mention the Field to enjoy a complimentary proof of concept or prototype! #EqualityAppliesHere Image description in alt text. #AccessibleDesign #InclusiveDesign #AccessForAll #DisabilityMatters #VisibilityForDisability #WebDevelopment #Development #Accessibility #Inclusion

Shoutout to our development partner Kiandra for not only helping us build an accessible job site for people with disability, but also providing pro-bono support services and office space to support our mission!    Kiandra Co-Founder Martin Cooperwaite said delivering the Field was both a privilege and also a unique challenge, as the platform needed to be accessible to different disabilities in a way other sites hadn’t properly addressed before.    “Building software for accessibility at this level is about putting the people we represent first. The Field must support a range of user access needs while at the same time being accessible to those who would be maintaining the system in the long term. Kiandra leveraged the high performance low-code platform Out Systems to support both objectives, as it is easily customisable for those maintaining the system,” Martin said.    If your business could benefit from high-quality, accessible development, reach out to the Kiandra team to discuss long-term solutions that benefit both your team and your users. Don’t forget to mention the Field to receive a free prototype or proof of concept! #EqualityAppliesHere    Image description in alt text.    #AccessibleDesign #InclusiveDesign #AccessForAll #DisabilityMatters #VisibilityForDisability #WebDevelopment #Development #Accessibility #Inclusion

Kiandra co-founder Martin Cooperwaite says: "I’ve been involved with the Wildcats ever since playing as a junior and Cam (our co-founder) is a passionate basketball player, past referee and recent basketball coach. We love how the club has grown and are excited to partner with Eltham Wildcats and to support the Referee and Coaching Development programs." "Great referees are vital to the game. Great coaches form the backbone of the player experience and their development, which is critical to drive the continued engagement of the players. From our own experience as players and dads of players, we have always appreciated the time, energy and passion that great coaches and referees put in. So we jumped at the chance to help support them." Go Wildcats!
