About Amanda's Sugar Cane Mulch

Are you looking for a type of mulch that is versatile, environmentally friendly, and good for the garden as well as being attractive and budget friendly?

Bales of Sugar Cane Mulch may be the perfect solution for you.

Sugar cane bales provide a clean, straw like mulch, and it contains low levels of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and sulphur. Unlike a lot of other mulches, it does not take nitrogen from the soil. It improves the nutrients of the soil as it decomposes and also improves the soil's structure.

When used correctly, sugar cane as mulch locks in moisture, prevents evaporation of water from the soil, helps with worm growth, reduces the growth of weeds, protects plants from temperature extremes, and adds organic material to the soil. Best of all, it is sustainable and environmentally sound.

The bales should be broken open and the sugar cane spread out over the garden. The minimum depth recommended is 75mm and due to its rate of decomposition, it does need to be topped up twice a year. Each bale will cover approximately 5 square metres. Sugar cane is versatile. You can use it on rose gardens, annual garden beds, general garden beds, slopes, and native gardens.

Sugar cane bales have a number of uses in the garden. Using the bales on the southern side of vegetable plants gives them shelter and warmth, which is perfect during winter. Placing the bales on the northern side of plants has the opposite effect, helping to extend the harvesting season. Using sugar cane bales to mulch garden beds significantly reduces the rate of evaporation, cutting down on the amount of water that you have to use in the garden

About Amanda

I love my gardening and when we moved into our new house found that with all the new gardens it was costing us a fortune to keep up the mulch.

I found a supplier who is reasonably priced and as I have room to store extra bales decided to keep them on hand and help others in the community to afford to keep their gardens mulched too.

I am happy to deliver free of charge to people in the local area and am home most of the time if you want to come by and pick up your own.

I enjoy a chat and have met allot of lovely people who share my love of gardening. I'm a great believer of helping others and word of mouth to promote your product so if you are in business let me know what you do and give me your business card as it's amazing what contacts can be made.
